Jacob has a background in robotics, bioinformatics and machine learning. Prior to joining AWS, Jacob focused on enabling and conducting large scale analysis for genomics and other scientific areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity is-style-dots\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Abstract<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While artificial intelligence (AI) has tremendous potential to positively impact patient outcomes generally this approach remains constrained by limitations in regard to cost and patient privacy. In this talk the author will discuss how federated learning techniques were applied to ameliorate all of these concerns as part of a manuscript entitled \u201c<em>An international study presenting a federated learning AI platform for pediatric brain tumors\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;which was recently&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-024-51172-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a>&nbsp;in Nature Communications. The manuscript has also been featured in Nature Communications\u2019 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/collections\/aahajfhafc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cancer Collection<\/a>\u201d.
